What shade and pairings for khaki/tan blazer?

    1. Do you prefer a lighter (tan) or darker (khaki shade like the kensington)?

    2. what pants/shirts/shoes work best?

    1. both
    2. Jeans/pants in shades darker than the jacket, any shirt really, and casual shoes, (loafers, boats, monks, derbies)

    1. I like both; if I had to choose one I'd go with khaki
    2. It's best as a suit, in my opinion. But for wearing as an odd jacket, navy blue pants are my favorite to pair with khaki (I have a linen pair I like best), followed by dark brown. You could go with a dark olive, too.

would you recommend something like this JCrew factory thompson suit?

also, for shirts, would a pattern be preferable to a solid? something like a gingham perhaps?

I really like a khaki suit with blue gingham and a red knit tie. But you could also wear a white shirt or a light blue shirt, and it looks crisp. It's pretty versatile in terms of color.

I haven't seen that JCF suit, so I can't comment. I Ebayed the J Crew chino Ludlow suit, and it's ridiculously nice. The Larusmiani fabric is really smooth. Like this one:

And of course you can break it up and wear it with other pants, which I do too. Usually navy blue linen.

I wore this last week and thought it looked pretty good.

First picture represents the color better than the second.
Jacket is a BR cotton/linen that I got
off of eBay for $30, pants are 514, and wore some Clark's in beeswax.
