Blazer and slacks with no tie - thoughts?

    Howdy folks -

I'm coming up on an interview for an internal position with the company I am currently employed by. The word interview hasn't been thrown around yet, but what else would you call

I'm debating between two sartorial options:

    1. Suit.

    2. Blazer and slacks, no tie, nice button-front shirt.

If I were to go with the latter, is that a relatively current, dapper look or is it kind of fuddy-duddy? I'd wear the Bonobos jet blue blazer over probably charcoal slacks with a blue gingham shirt and mid-brown belt and tie.

    Thoughts?

Not the faintest idea. I'm a consultant, and I've been hired, trained, and managed via phone and email - never met any of my direct supervisors in person, just HR folks in another state. Essentially, flying blind here.

I'd wear the suit if it was me. It's your first time meeting them and even though it's not an 'interview', you said it essentially is. Unless it's a job at the mall or something like that, I'd wear the suit.

    Yeah...crap. Wish it wasn't a black suit.

It's fine. Outside of the sartorial world, I don't think anyone will care. Maybe if you're in a fashion forward city, someone might give you a double take. Otherwise I wouldn't sweat it.

Black doesn't really matter if its all you own. As long as the fit is good you have a nice tie and clean shirt white (i wouldnt show how creative you are with your fashion, your words and actions speak better to creativity in an interview IMO). Shine your oxfords.
