J Crew Factory Plaque Belt - Too Narrow?

I just received my J Crew Factory today, which included the plaque belt. Man is this thing thin. I know it says in the description that it's only 1" thick, but for some reason I was expecting something different. Is there a certain way these things are supposed to be worn, or a certain type of outfit they're better suited for? Maybe I'm just too big of a guy, but the thing looks really feminine.

Hmmm I've never had a 1" belt. I can't really judge it from the picture on the site.

Generally, thinner belts are more formal, but that belt looks casual to me.

I have the J.Crew version. The Factory wasn't available at the time. I'm actually pretty pissed about that. Now.. based on personal experience, the belt can look a bit off in certain scenarios. In fact, I found myself in one of them yesterday. I once read that belt thickness should correspond with the sizing of the belt loops, and that designers didn't make them a certain size by accident. For me, the thin brown belt works best with darker colored gray and navy pants where the glaring discrepancy between belt loop size and belt thickness is not as readily apparent as it would be on a lighter colored pant. When it looks "off" you'll immediately notice. It's a great belt when worn correctly..

I have a 1" black belt that I wear with suits. It looks good in that context. It would probably be too narrow to wear casually, i.e., with jeans.
