    Picking a Graduation Outfit

I am going to a graduation ceremony next Saturday. I was planning on wearing my nice new blue sports coat. What are some of your favorite was to wear yours?

Grad school graduation mixed with undergrads a few months ago - I wore a navy linen suit, pink dress shirt, blue tie with white dots, reddish-brown lace up dress shoes. Plus cap and gown. The shirt was button-down collar which is not ideal perhaps, but the look was dressy/ivy, so tolerable.

You shoes and the bottom of your pants should look very sharp since they'll be a focus is you walk across a stage.

The navy blazer is one of the most neutral clothing items imaginable. You can wear virtually any color combo of shirt/tie/trousers/shoes with it.

Here are some navy blazer outfits I've worn:

-Navy blazer, pink shirt, mid-blue tie, grey glen plaid trousers, black wingtips.
-Navy blazer, light blue shirt, navy tie with red stripes, dark denim, and brown wingtips.
-Navy blazer, light blue shirt, burgundy pindot tie, stone-colored chinos, and brown wingtips.

The possibilities are basically endless. Personally, I'm a big fan of the blue-blue-blue... the navy blazer over a light blue shirt and a darker blue tie. It's clean, modern, and conservative without being stuffy.
