Vicious, just throw on a grey jacket and you'd look nice. It would still be loud (that's ok, I kind of like loud) but it would detract from the "matchy" thing.
    Mjs, looks swell.

@Vicious: I really like your outfit and found it one of the more appealing ones I've seen from you. Almost all the pieces have a really nice high/low thing going on and it's clear you're putting thought into things. Solid knit tie is a great way to wear a tie w/ gingham. And the color of the tie is spot on.

That said, I agree with others that the outfit could be made even better with one of a few small changes. Pant color is one of them: it's not that you're current color looks bad (it doesn't), but that something less directly matched to the tie and the navy in the gingham (a darker than khaki but not chocolate brown?) might help dial back the color intensity. I also agree that another layer up top would be another direction to take this in. Throw on a grey v-neck or cardigan and the pants' matchiness would likely become a non-issue. Wearing a blazer would be another way to go. Personally, I'd opt for the grey cardigan.

@vicious, I may have said it before, but that watch is beautiful.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I don't currently own a grey blazer or sweater but I'll keep that in mind for next time. The outfit is something I'd normally wear without the tie. I threw the tie on at the last minute since my wife was like 'why'd you buy it if you're not planning on ever wearing it'. I only picked it up since it was on sale for $10.

Business casual today for class (guest speakers). Thought I'd go denim for this occasion...still trying to figure out chinos. Not pictured is the grey herringbone sport coat I was wearing earlier. Got too damn warm today. Tried cuffing my pants for the hell of it...never done that before.

Belt: Not sure, but need to replace it (Suggestions?)

Open to comments and suggestions, still trying to figure out my style here.

Josh it looks like your pants are sitting really low in the pics.
Try sizing down future shirts, the shoulders are too wide and it will help get it more fitted to your body and reduce billowing around your belt.

Purple goes good with walnut shoes, I love my solid purple socks and Walnut shoes.

@josh - I agree with shadow on the low rise of your pants and shirt size. Also, if you're going to wear a tie, there's no reason not to button that top button. Just looks sloppy unbuttoned, IMO.
