I love my AE x MD chukkas. Love 'em enough I bought them three times (sand, chocolate, navy). That being said it's also pretty well-known I'm less a fan of the "new" version of Massdrop known simply as "DROP".

Yes, aren't you the one who got a really poorly made pair of Chukka boots from Drop?

Or was it someone else? Somebody posted on the forum about some that were just awful--I would have have been disappointed if they were seconds.

And the best they could get was about a 15% credit.
WHY ARE THE GUYS IN SUITS HERE? HAS SOMETHING GONE WRONG?

Yep that was me. Part of what left the bad taste in my mouth about the purveyor. There was a literal chunk of the nap of the suede missing on one toe, as if someone had literally scooped it off the leather with a spoon.

And the condition of refund was returning the shoes to DROP. (the rest of the refund would be a "store credit"...because nothing makes me want to continue doing business with a company like customer service that makes the Zetas look attractive)

Thankfully a local cobbler was able to make them look like nothing had ever been wrong, and I enjoy the hell out of them now.

Just to add, I wasn't really trying to turn this into a "bash DROP" kind of thread. Yes, my experience was negative. Others have had a good one with them. They've been featured on the main site numerous times for offering really good deals on a lot of kit.

Just good to know that, as with all things retail, everything doesn't always come up Milhouse.

I use these Danner Chukkas for most of the fall/winter/spring. Really comfy and great caramel color on the nubuck.

I don't have much experience with them yet, but the Huckberry Felix Chukkas are very comfortable right out of the box, and today I received a pair of Nisolo Emilio Chukkas, and while these will require a little break-in time, seem to be very well made and comfortable too. The leather on these looks great - so much better than what I was expecting.

Edit - Thursday Boot Company's chukka also looks pretty sleek.

I have three pairs...Alden in dark brown suede, the Mass Drop x AE in snuff, and the J.Crew McAllister desert boots. The Alden are by far my favorites, but the McAllister are great knockarounds for the weekend.

I recently picked up the Rhodes Felix chukkas in "Rust." They look very sleek and the leather is starting to patina nicely. They are comfortable right out of the box and after a couple weeks they are becoming more so. They run a little large, so I sized down a half size and the fit is perfect. https://huckberry.com/store/rhodes/c...5-felix-chukka

I also have a pair of suede Alton chukkas from Nordstrom. I got the stone color which pairs really well with any gray or khaki colored pants. The suede is not overly luxurious, but I got them for around $80, so it's pretty nice for that price point. They look great and are comfortable out of the box. https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/nordstr...=stone%20suede
