    Help with leather weekender bag

Hey all, wanted to get your thoughts on a new leather travel bag. Looking to find something in leather , small enough for a cary on but large enough for a long weekend trip. Below are a few options that I have come across. What do you guys think would be the best of the below options or are there others that you think I should look into? Thanks

I dont have any experience with those but i had a leather weekender for a little bit. I just want to throw it out there that I enjoy my canvas weekender and duffel a lot more. Lighter, more flexible for cramming into an overhead, and stores way smaller when not in use. and they still look great to me. You can get one with some good leather accents too. The Jcrew abingdon is a decent example of what I am talking about. Filson has some great options if you want to go up a little in price/quality.

Also, keep an eye on Gustin. I love this bag...

and if this leather is like the briefcase, it should be a great bag...

That leather Gustin bag is gorgeous! If you have the cake, take a look at it.

I have a leather weekender that works well for me. Big enough that I can pack a good selection of clothes. Small enough that it fits in the overhead of a plane. Now. Do you think I could remember the make/model of the bag? Gesh. Let me get back home and see if I can a) snap some pics and b) actually remember the name of the bag. I do know it wasn't cheap though.

I agree, the Gustin is pretty nice. Only problem is they are sold out and I was hoping to have this for the holiday travel season. And thanks for the idea about canvas but I think I like the look of a leather bag a little more.

classier, for sure. And carrying any leather bag always makes me feel like Indiana Jones, so thats a plus.

Looks like you are going for upscale. I've recently discovered Hook & Albert. Lifetime no questions asked warranty (they recently sent me parts for free for a bag I purchased used--just paid a nominal shipping and handling charge).

Do you want to be able to pack a suit that hangs up when open and rolls up when closed?

    If so:

    Twill:

Oh, and as wonderful as Saddleback Leather is, those don't look very functional for a weekender type bag.
WHY ARE THE GUYS IN SUITS HERE? HAS SOMETHING GONE WRONG?

I have the garment weekender and itís great. You can fit a good amount of stuff in it. A broader point is that even if you can fit everything into a weekender bag it might be a pain to carry it around due to the weight.

This. Every time Iíve crammed a long weekendís worth of stuff in a weekender bag itís become uncomfortably heavy for airport travel. If Iím driving, itís no big deal.

yeah, I am all function for airline travel. roller carry on and backpack personal item. I did a large duffel for a trip to mexico once, never again. After lugging that thing around the airport I was sweating like a pig. I also repeatedly bumped into people.

Glad to hear that. I might pick one up. They are 25% off right now.
