I have a Schott leather jacket that has a removable lining. It weighs a ton, but it's really warm and looks really cool.

Duffle coats are a good option when you want something less formal than a top coat but more stylish than a parka. They look great with jeans and cords, but can also work with wool trousers.

For cold Iíve got three basic options:
    1. JCrew quilted Sussex. Great for if youíre not out for long or have a sweater underneath. One of my favorite mix between dappered and comfortable.

    2. S&M overcoat in navy. Formal events, wearing over a suit or if windy this is great option. I was surprised how warm it is. I pair with a scarf and gloves.

    3. For when itís really cold style doesnít matter as much. No one outside in sub 30 degrees is going to be remarking at your jacket choice. So I pull out my north face ski jacket. Blocks the wind and is warm.

I've already a healthy selection. Duffle coat from Spier, a couple topcoats, and for work I have the full cold-weather setup.

Though Maryland really doesn't get *THAT* cold if I'm honest.

Lots of layers next week in Canada though.

Last year I picked up a light grey J. Crew peacoat and added that to my navy car coat, and I'm pretty much golden for any weather. I also have a packable down jacked I wear for super casual outings and hiking. I don't remember the brand, it was a Marshalls/TJ Maxx pickup. I don't plan on buying a coat for several years.

I went to go buy the darn thing this morning and the promo code changed and it now excludes the Sussex. Oh well, I didnt need it anyway.
