High-waisted jeans popular in the late 1980s. Always worn without a belt and often worn with a fanny pack. The inseam should be shorter than you are used to as they will be paired with high-top Reebok basketball shoes.

Substitute the shoes for new balance all white sneakers.

I think to me dad jeans is construct and color. You know it when you see it. Construct being usually no taper aka baggy and possibly material looking at the ankles. Color being usually a standard uniform blue from start to finish with no fade or real depth of color.

I do wonder thought as i get older will my kids look back at our photos when we get older and say oh man dark wash jeans those are so dad jeans etc. why would people wear them.

New Dad Hot Take: Frankly, I don't give a damn what my kids will think in 30 years. I like my artisanal selvedge denim and I'll be buried in the damn things for what I paid for them.

I'd like to think that the "new wave" of dad jeans are black skinny jeans.
