Thanks and I'll be at the NY Fed so there will be some instances where I have to dress business formal.

Second your age in school shouldn’t be used for dress lenancy. This is your first impression. Generally government people dress down but you’re in dc (correct?) where you can get pulled into meetings above casual dress pretty quickly.

I’d opt for the formal pants. Always have a jacket at the very least at your cube for meetings you didn’t expect. I’d also not wear loafers.

    Good luck.

Yeah I plan on wearing a blazer/sportcoat as well. I have a navy blazer but I might buy another one. I'll look into the one that you suggested.

Depends on your budget but if you can:

Get a pair of grey wool pants
Get a dark colored sportcoat (navy or brown would be choice)
Suit (not necessary but if you can)
Get a couple dress shirts and OCBDs

If the budget is tighter, regular dress slacks would be fine, just get them tailored nicely. But i would say a jacket is a must, it always makes me feel more professional even if I’m wearing chinos
