Shoe Tattoos (tattoos on the shoes, not tattoos of shoes)

I received an email from Larrimor's yesterday about their Allen Edmond's Trunk Show. As part of the show, they say "Guests are invited to tattoo their shoes and belts. This is a developing trend that allows you to customize your shoes in a very unique way!"

I had never heard of shoe tattoos and was curious, so I went to the source of all knowledge (Google) that indicates the trend started a couple of years ago.

Does anyone have tattoos on their dress shoes? Thoughts about whether this is just a fad or if it has more staying power?

This is the first I have heard of such a thing. A quick google search found this:

    https://www.oliversweeney.com/sweeney-tattoo

Definitely not for me. I could maybe see it with shoes worn casually, but I feel like you would be destroying a nice pair of shoes.

Thanks Loafer28. I thought the same thing as you, but then I came across these pics and thought "huh, maybe that might work for a pair of weekend brogues." Still looks a little hipster to me, and I'm definitely not in the hipster category. It's got me thinking though.

Concerns me that this is going on with Allen Edmonds. This is certainly not something to be done to a classic dress shoe. This looks like some trend that will be on fashion shoes for 2 years then disappear into obscurity.
