    Looking for Suede Loafers...

Iím looking for a pair of suede loafers, in a medium to light brown, maybe even sand.

    Requirements:

    1) Sleekishódonít want a beef roll for certain.
    2) Leather or maybe Brick sole. Could also see virbam working in the right shoe.
    3) Penny only. No tassel, bow, bit, etc
    4) Available in narrow width if at all possible. I measure 9.5 between b&c on a brannock (left foot is slightly bigger and wider than right) and my two best fitting pairs of shoes are 9.5b in the 201 last from AE.
    5) Under $200 if at all humanly possible.

My searches are turning up not much.

    Thoughts?

Minus the narrow width I'm currently searching for the exact same thing at the moment for spring/summer wear. Meermin has one in a snuff suede that I was interested in but it's currently sold out. I think we just have to wait a little bit longer for people to start rolling out more of their S/S stuff.

    Yeah, unfortunately, our weather today:

The Meerman is nice, but only available in standard width from what I can tell.

Yeah, only standard width. Real jealous of the weather you got down there. It's 50 degrees colder up here in MA

I bought a pair of navy suede loafers from Massimo Dutti a couple of years ago. I was looking for that exact type of shoe so foolishly bought them at full retail ($175 Canadian). I'm sure they went on sale for under $100 later in the season. They are made in Portugal and fit well. I don't see that they have any such model now, but it's worth checking back.

They look kind of like these, but penny loafers and not tassel.

Todd Synder sometimes carries a Grenson loafer in suede -- I have a pair in blue suede and really enjoy them. They're a nice middle ground between a super dressy loafer and a super casual one.

Looks like Joe featured them a little while ago, so a bit above your price... sorry already typed this so I'll post it just in case.

Had the very same question last year and spent some time looking. You mention the Meermin model, which seems like a great choice in this price range, but I was hesitant at the time (the Meermin New York store hadn't yet opened, so I had sizing concerns).

They don't get a ton of play here for some reason, but went with an offering from Velasca (which gives 10% off on your first purchase) and have been really impressed with quality, durability, and comfort after about seven months of regular wear now.

I have a pair of Velasca shoes and really like them. For the OP, I have the Meermin suede penny loafers in dark brown but they are quite sleek and structured, meaning that they work fine with tailored clothing and even dressy chinos but they would look off with denim or more casually. In comparison to my Velasca suede shoes (not loafers), the Meermin suede is more nappy which isn't necessarily better or worse but it is different. I think Meermin suede is a nice bet since you avoid the notorious break in issues with the calf leathers.
