I think Joseph A Bank is quite a bit better these days than people on online fora give them credit for, and definitely better than Men's Wearhouse. I've picked up three things from JAB in the last three months (cinnamon corduroy sport coat that was a christmas gift from my wife, chestnut 100% wool topcoat with slanted side pockets, tan 100% wool pants) and find them all pretty good options for a reasonable price if on sale. I'd go with them for a stop gap option. You may even find that you get the suit tailored and keep wearing it occasionally after you lose weight.

I agree. I picked up a 100% wool 1905 suit right after for Xmas for the ridiculous price of $79. I am very happy with it. Okay, maybe not my nicest suit--but at least as nice as most $300 suits.
