Macy's has offered a blackwatch dinner jacket the last two years IIRC, correct lapels, but double vented and two-buttoned. I wear it sometimes in place of my regular black-tie jacket. For short notice black-tie Macy's separates may work or maybe you can find a dark suit for the same price and wear a french cuff shirt and long tie - unless the gala specifies black tie attire.

Thanks all for the advice - I'll be staying clear of that jacket. So... short notice and with a budget - Am I ok attending this event with my grey suit (actually what I wore to my wedding), black braces, black shoes and then getting a grenadine (faux) tie from thetiebar and a black pocket square, white french cuff shirt?

That all seems fine, but I would warn those tie bar faux grenadine ties wear out very quickly ime. At least, very quickly compared to actual grenadine ties.

Ok, that's good to know. Well, this won't get a whole lot of use, so I think we'll be good. Thanks, everyone.

I think you're better off with a white pocket square than black. The ivory is probably fine, too.

I think you will be fine for short notice and short budget. Have fun!
