In terms of clothing, ironing my dress shirts and taking care of my shoes/boots really makes me feel better/more confident. I don't think anybody in my office notices either way in my office, but those are things that I learned in the service and still stick with me.

In general, spending the first thirty minutes or so every Monday morning to plan out my week and write it all down. I also use Trello to track tasks, but I find spending the time to write everything out with fountain pen into a notebook provides me a time to analyze and prioritize tasks. There's been quite a bit of turnover in student services during the last 10 months since I started at my current position (the two advisors I work with are relatively new to their positions as well).

    I guess I'm a creature of ritual.

    One more suggestion...

A good steamer. Irons are good, but not for everything. Sports coats love steamers.

HUGE fan of steamers. Can't remember the last time I touched an iron.

Ditching undershirts and switching to a natural deodorant. Going without an undershirt is far more comfortable, especially in warmer weather, and using a natural deodorant instead of one with aluminum means no yellow pit stains.

Spraying the necks of my dress shirts with Oxiclean before every wash. Almost completely eliminates the development of ring-around-the-collar discoloration, and helped mostly remove old built-up discoloration on shirts that I thought were beyond saving.
Can you link me to the specific oxiclean product/version you use for the collars? I have this exact problem.

I use this Lucky Tiger stuff. Does the job, not mild, but not like rubbing your face with shrapnel, either. For the love of all that is Holy, do not get it in your eyes.
