    Wine spill on suit

    Hi Guys,

I spilled some red wine on a navy suit. The good thing is it's dark enough so that I can't see any stains. Wondering is it important to dry clean it so that it doesn't attract moths? Does wine itself destroy the wool?

    Thanks!

The sugar in the wine will attract insects, including moths. In fact, entomologists use the descriptively-named wine rope for that purpose.

Wine itself won't damage the wool. Several synthetic and semi-synthetic fabrics (check your lining isn't acetate) don't deal well with alcohol, but natural fibres are typically indifferent.

Thanks for the info! Just dropped it off at the cleaners. New suit but a lot of wine was spilled.
