    Taft boots and shoes?

Anyone have experience with Taft? I was this close to buying the AE Leiden weave in walnut and then I saw this.
The ae shoe looks a little sleeker from the pics but they are pretty similar. The Leiden is $279 right now while you can get the Taft shoe for 100 less

I've got about 6 pairs or so, they are good quality, I have no complaints. I wear them about as often as I wear AE shoes and I don't notice a significant difference in quality/feel/etc. I'd certainly go for the more economical option for a shoe as pictured above because it doesn't seem like a daily wear item.

I went ahead and bought the AE Leiden in the store today and a pair of the Taft shoes online. Once they come in I can decide if the AE shoe is 125 bucks better (forgot about tax!).

I have four pair of Taft shoes/boots and I love them. Very comfortable and are always conversation starters. Plus, I can't help but appreciate the added quality they take the time to provide with their branding and packaging.

Found this thread in a search and curious if you receive the Taft's and what you think. Are they on par with the AE's?

Leather was much better on the AEs. The leather is thin on the Tafts and has shown some creasing so far. Tafts fit me a bit better, but for some reason I have never been able to find an AE size/last that is perfect on my foot. I like the Taft shape a bit better, at least for this particular shoe. It's sleeker, more aggressive I guess, but for something I don't wear a lot, it works. Same with the color, Tafts were more orange, AE was a light to medium brown, but for this shoe I wanted something that was a little louder. And the price was right. Half of the cost of AE firsts.

Great comments and comparison. The Allen Edmonds Dalton Wingtips are in sale right now so the prices are comparable which makes it an easy decision.

    Thanks again!
