job interview: AE dark chili strands or carmina chocolate suede oxfords?

i have black captoes but just don't feel as confident in them as i do in these. Navy suit. Engineering, so everyone there dresses down and badly (think dad style). Leaning towards the strands since the suede material may be too distracting.

Suede's a bit casual for an interview (assuming you're suited). Strands for sure.

I agree. I wouldn't wear suede to an interview.

If you're going to be the only person in a suit, then it really doesn't matter. Wear the ones you prefer.

Depending on the environment you're applying to work in, I wouldn't even wear the suit. I'd never wear a suit for an interview (software eng) because it would just look out of place. In an environment like that, wearing suede might actually be easier, because you might come off as fashionable instead of stodgy.

For a white collar job interview, I'd go with the navy suit and black cap toes. Just because they dress poorly doesn't mean you have lower your own professional standards and dress down.

isn't that the truth. my whole office would be lucky to wear a clean polo shirt every day. usually it's somewhere between dirty polo shirt, and dirty t shirt :-D

Strands for the win. Plus as you said you don't feel confident in your black cap toe shoes. You want to crush your interview and be relaxed.
