Yeah. I get what you're saying. I once paid $31 for a new Brunello Cuccinelli sportcoat at Marshalls. But how often does that happen? I'd argue that finding a bunch of Kiton, Tom Ford, etc. ties at places like that on deeeeeeep discounts is all about being in the right place at the right time. And everybody who doesn't have the time or the incination to poke around for stuff like that would probably be happy paying $20 for a tie on here or on ebay.

I'm with whomever suggested just wearing ties more. I have no need to wear a ties to work ever, but I still do occasionally, and did today, just for the hell of it. I have a handful of ties I like and I'm trying to bust them out more often. Today I just wore a cardigan, which is better than a vneck on tie day because it shows off more tie, while still keeping it from flopping around. I got a few compliments too, including one from a woman lamenting that she could never get her husband to wear one.

Just an aside, I don't feel the least bit ambitious when I get dressed in the morning, so if I let my morning self decide what to wear I'd be in jeans and henleys every day. So I lay out my clothes at night and then I'm the morning just dutifully put them on. That's how I got myself into the tie this morning.

I don't consider $20 for a good tie off of ebay a lot of money. It's ties that are over $100 even deeply discounted I was referencing. I'm actually willing to pay a pretty high price for something if I feel it's worth it to me. Over $100 via ebay is not worth it "to me" although I might pay that for something special I really want. There are a couple of E.G. Capelli ties I might spring for at some point.
