"You always say look so dapper"

Just today, as I was getting lunch on campus, a young woman I don't know personally came up to me and noted: "you always say look so dapper". I thanked her of course, but afterwards chuckled at her wording, because much of my current sense of dress is owed to this website and this community.
Not sure what discussion this may inspire, but I just wanted to share the tidbit and extend a thank-you to everyone's who's given me advice over my time here.

At end of graduate school we'd have an informal party where we'd give out gag awards, and I was awarded the "dapper dandy man" award. Proudest achievement ever in grad school.

I was once called "Mr. Dressup" by a colleague. For those of you south of the border, Mr. Dressup was a child entertainer who would 'dress up' in costumes. Similar to @MaitreTea I it took proudly, even if I haven't worn a bowtie. After all, what else could I do?

For reference, this was the outfit in question.

I got the "you look very dapper today" from a colleague at work a couple of weeks ago, and now a couple of people say it. It makes me chuckle because, well, this site.

I think what I actually was that day was a little peacocky. I was wearing a maroon, bordering on magenta, cardigan with a yellow and white gingham shirt under it. Which is about as flash as I get.

Your outfit, Duncan, is much more dapper in the sense that I understand the word. Looks good!

Thanks a lot, man! I still consider myself a relative newbie at this sort of thing, so it's nice to hear I don't look completely ridiculous

Be proud of yourself, man. I'm a relative newcomer too and I'm like twice your age. 😀

Are you single? Because they used to call that flirting.
