The key to getting max value out of BR (or Gap Inc in general) is to get a Gap credit card, and use it for everything. Pay it off at the end of each month. Rack up a ridiculous number of points, redeem them for Gap inc vouchers (which can be stacked with codes) and rob them blind. I paid about $35 for 6 BR polos in the spring doing this.

i use my card for just gap and BR purchases. I use an amex for everything else, with like 3% back on groceries and gas. what kind of percent back do you get from gap/BR?

I think he meant to post this link (since he said $50)

There's no burgundy option, but one of the photos is a burgundy so I imagine there'll be a restock at some point

It's 1% for purchases outside of the gap family. I think he might be referring to the $5 voucher per 500 points spent, I'm not sure if that's an additional bonus on top of the 1%. Either way, unless you really really love gap, it's much better to use a card that gives you a better % for outside purchases.

amex, I think, has an option to redeem the cashback as a BR gift card, so really, even if you are an insane BR freak, using a non-gap card maybe a better option. Not sure how that gap cash stuff works though.

I bought a burgundy 100% merino wool cardigan from Brooks Brothers a couple of years ago, for about $60 CDN on sale. Not sure if they offer one currently, but might be worth checking and waiting for a sale.

Uniqlo merino is a good option as well, if you can find the right style color and size. I bought a great 100% merino wool turtleneck from them last week in navy.
