    Are these Shell Cordovan

I bought these a Bruno Magli Platinum ankle boots a couple years ago and have yet to wear them. Since I very rarely wear suits anymore I'm going back and forth with the idea of selling them to someone who might have more opportunity to enjoy them. I'm almost certain they're shell but I wouldn't want to list them as such unless I was pretty sure. I can't recall exactly what I paid but I remember my girlfriend thinking I was nuts for dropping over $1500. As it turned out she might have been right lol. Does anyone have an inkling? What forum could I hit where people might be able to make an ID?

I've got more and larger photo's.

If you spent $1500 on Bruno Magli's, they'd better be shell.

They could be. I can't tell without either feeling them or see post wear rolls.

Not necessarily. Edward Green and Gaziano costs about the same for their calf leather makeups.

Bruno Magli does not equal Edward Green.

I wasn't very knowledgeable about Bruno Magli, but after a quick Google search, I don't see any threads about Bruno's Platinum line being shell. And OP may want to just keep them as there doesn't seem to be a big demand for them. No idea where you could have bought them for over $1500 as I don't even see them for sale besides eBay. Should have just spent the dough on EGs or G&Gs.

I'm going to say no due to the vertical creases on the left shoe (wearer's left, not left in the picture).

Also, unless you just want to salvage whatever you can get for them, I would keep them. The most expensive pair I saw in eBay completed listed sold for $150, less than 10% of your initial investment. They were a staple style (brown cap toe) unlike yours, which will make yours tougher to sell and likely to sell for less.

I don't even know how it's possible to spend that much on Brunos because my quick research showed "retail" prices topping out around half of that.

    Best of luck OP

if you can take a picture of the shoe bent forward, it's a lot easier to see if it's shell or not.

the presence of crease lines around the top of the toe area, for example, will tell if it's actually cow leather.

    this is NOT shell cordovan

the other one on shoes that have been worn is that they get these rolls above the toe area as well.
