Joe did a review on them a while back.

I've picked them up in store...but never bought them. They're light, and flexible. No noticeable smell. Would probably make a good pair of beaters if I could ever find them on sale. The reviews about the soles on the Nordstrom site (IIRC) make me iffy about actually buying them at retail.

Is it possible to remove shoulder padding/structure from a jacket/sportcoat, and how much can I expect to pay for it?

Hope you were getting your tweed on for the last week or so. Or you could always move to Dallas. I have to travel between the two and it's about 10 degrees colder here than in Houston.

    90/10, I think. I tried the 100% wool J Crew version and I couldn't even tell a difference. $78 is a steal.

Indeed I have! I love the cold. We may actually end up in Dallas eventually; both of our families live up there.

How is Dallas? I'm actually moving up there from Puerto Rico in December.

Random question; does it get cold enough to wear peacoats and such? Might sound a bit ignorant of me, but I've lived in 80+ F weather all my life.

Its a fine place to live. Smaller than Houston which can be nicer when trying to get around. Texas weather means the forecast every day is highs in 90s lows in the 70s with a 10% chance of rain (kidding). Its North Texas, so it does tend to get a little more wintry by Texas standards. I wear a peacoat on days like the last few (20s-30s) but once its up above 50 just a sweater or cardigan. Maybe a light jacket. Up till Jan/Feb this is most days.

Shopping here is pretty good though. Northpark, Galleria, and Allen Outlets. All the necessities and then some.

One warning, the city has the highest number of restaurants per capita in the country...which means a lot of terrible eateries that survive on Groupons and good luck. Do your homework and find the gems if you are a foodie.

And on behalf of the rest of the state, welcome

Thank you! Great tips on the shopping and food, as I am definitely a foodie.

I opened a thread on this, but seeing as you are a local, might as well ask here: Are there any good local-based leather jacket manufacturers?
