    Help with color combinations

Hey all. I'm stuck on color and pattern combinations...

I've got a date at a whiskey (whisky) bar next weekend. It's my first one since I've become more conscious of my appearance. My blazer is currently away at the tailors so I can't put up a fit check, but that isn't my main problem anyway. I'm struggling with color combinations. I am definitely going with my brown blazer and dark wash jeans, but am coming up with question marks when it comes to the shirt and socks. Here's a link (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=117056490)to a sample of what I am considering (not quite the same items, but the closest I could find upon a cursory Google search). The two shirts on the left are much busier (duh), but both my date and I are outdoorsy types so I figure checks and plaids might be good. As for socks, here's a link of what's available to me (http://imgur.com/a/OZQop/all). I recently have become a fan of colorful socks, but I figure that if I go for one of the busier shirts that I should avoid them. So, I put it to you Dappered, which combo should I go with? Thanks.

Brown chukka-esque boots. There's a photo of my actual boot in the Polyvore link.

Not sure why the socks are such an issue, especially if you're wearing boots.

I'd also go with the blue shirt, it offers more contrast to the darker jacket than those plaid options would.

Those socks would be fine with one of the solid shirt options.

As for the shirt, I assume you mean the light blue striped one?

@elduderino260, I highly doubt that your date will care what your socks look like. Pick an outfit that you like, even if you don't think that it conveys sex appeal. If you wear an outfit that reflects your true personality then you'll be able to relax and treat the date like a fellow human being.

    Good luck.
