    Loafer?

I wear chinos, a dress shirt, and a sweater to school. I can't seem to find the perfect shoe, though. I tried Clark's dessert boot, but they seem to floppy -- I feel strange wearing them all dressed up. The one Oxford tried was too bulky for me.

I seem to constantly return to the loafer. I like them a lot. But I need some help choosing the right pair. What do you all suggest? Better yet, what do you suggest for a different style of shoe as well?

    Thanks, as always in advance...

boat shoes, loafers, moccasin type shoes.

the right pair is largely a matter of taste. penny, tassel, strap, horsebit, whatever the little fringe things are called.

I think a pair of penny loafers would get you pretty far, weejuns are classics,

but there are TONS of loafers out there.

    these A&E's are on sale

LL Bean Camp Moc. Used it for college, grad school, work (business casual). Comes in D and EE; more of a pebbled texture than these pics show. Easy to slip on, easy out, casual yet dressy enough.

@Weng Thanks! Yeah, something like that. Like those a lot...

@Ben The AEs are a bit too dressy. I do love AE though. Have a gorgeous pair of light brown wingtips for more formal wear.

And, with loafer socks, the camp moc is great in summertime with shorts! I have always gone with dark brown...the cactus is newer.

seconded on the LLB moc. I have the old 3 eyelet ones I like, here are some with 4, I don't think they make the 3 anymore

For the winter you might want some boots like the Chippewa that have been discussed on here. Depends on where you are and the weather.
