    Men's Wearhouse buying Allen Edmonds?!?

Not sure how I feel about this. (via WSJ) Seems like this is about the equivalent of Walmart buying out Tiffany's.

I think the one (and only so far) comment on the main site pretty much sums it up.

        Well, that would be disappointing.

Glad I've moved on to other brands.

I'm a fan of AE. Kind reminds me of when Schwinn was bought out by Huffy. Could be depressing. Time will tell

if MWH does indeed buy AE, so all their AE made in USA will be moving to China? only time will tell; and no more 2 for $250 from AE if MWH buy them.

This would make me pretty sad, so lets hope not.

I'll mainly be sorry that AE will be losing the distinguished company of Houlihans and Imperial Plastics! http://ghjm.com/portfolio-companies/

                    Good news! http://www.jsonline.com/business/all...230562761.html

Mens Wearhouse didnt buy AE, a private equity firm out of LA did, Paul Grangaard is still in the picture, and it looks like it is business as usual, or according to them, maybe even better!

edit* apparently the firm also owns Filson, so they likely understand the desire to maintain quality.

That's great news for sure. I just got into the higher end footwear with Allen Edmonds just a few months ago. Glad they're keeping the same direction.

Businesses always put out a press release saying it will be better after they sell. Definitely more palatable than MWH, but we shall see...
