Friday challenge 8/2/2013 - "Black & White (but NOT Grey/Gray)... Oh yeah, & Green!"

Weekly challenge time is nigh. So here are the deets:

1.) A challenge is proposed (typically on a Monday, unless the poster is a slacker, in which case the wee hours of Tuesday morning will just have to suffice).
2.) Ideas are bounced around throughout the week, any questions are codified, and guidelines are put into place.
3.) On Friday (or before), everyone dresses according to the challenge's parameters.
4.) On Saturday, all challengers are recorded and voting opens to see who best represents the challenge.
5.) A winner is chosen by majority vote on Sunday, and the winner is responsible for choosing the next week's challenge.

    And here's this week's theme:

"Black & White (but NOT Grey/Gray)... Oh yeah, & Green!"

So then, what I'm proposing is that you do your very best to put together an outfit featuring ALL OF and ONLY the colors black, white and green in some way or another. Any shade(s) of green is(are) acceptable, but black is black and white is white.

Continuing with the tradition, here are the rules (adapted from the prior weeks):
1.) ALL visible items of clothing must be either black, white, or green. Not just a bag or an accessory -- an actual article of clothing (shirt, pants, jacket, hat, tie, belt, socks).
** I'm trying to be more strict and/or specific with it this week, to possibly put a little pressure on. We'll see how that goes, I guess. Hopefully it doesn't crash the whole thing, but remember this is a "challenge ."
2.) The style (casual, formal, etc.) is completely up to you.

Here's the criteria: the best use of black, white, and green (only those, yet all of those) in the outfit. Interpretation of that criteria is up to you, the voter.

You can submit early if you like. If you submit multiple images, the last image submitted prior to the deadline will be counted as your entry. Ready... Set... GO!

I can do the black and white. Not sure how to incorporate the green though.

I'm officially out of the competition this week, black is the one color that my wardrobe lacks. Not even a belt.

I'll be sure and place my vote this week though. Gentlemen, good luck.

I have black shoes, black belts, and... that's it. I've got some green and white shirts, but I don't own a single pair of black, white or green pants so I'm out.

              Shorts, Alan? Hmmn...

If not, sorry, bud. And also dackman, and possibly some others yet to see it. Like I said, I hope it's not going to poo-poo the whole thing, but figured let's try to make it a little tougher.

I figured everyone probably has something white, and most folks would have some black too (shoes, belt, pants - I know, I know... the horror! - LOL), even though black shoes/belt often get tough love in style/fashion circles these days, but then we'd see too many similar pics, I thought. So why not mix in a not-so-popular color option? I also just saw a lady wearing a black, white and green dress yesterday, and thought that it really looked great, even though I hadn't really seen that combo too frequently. So that's how it ended up here this week.

Keep diggin' in that closet/wardrobe, fellas... there's gotta be *some* way for you to join the battle. In fact I *challenge* you to do so! (MMUUHAHHHAHHAHHAHHA....!!!)

** If I hear TONS of you guys say you're out due to the restrictions, then I might have to adjust the limitations a tad, but I'd rather not, if we don't really have to. Thing is, challenging or not, this is supposed to be fun, and I sure like the participation and competition we've been getting, so again, I don't wish to ruin that vibe. What say y'all?

I have black shoes, belts, jackets, sweaters, and even shirts that could fit the criteria so it's fine for me. I'm not as black-averse as most in the fashion community. My only decision now is do I go more formal or casual. The green is what makes it tough for me since I don't have a lot of that in my wardrobe.

That's where I'm at with it too. I have a particular green item that I thought I had banished to the "never-again" section of the extra guest closet (the waiting room for a Salvation Army drop-off trip). But.... maybe.. just maybe...

Glad to hear you have some black goods, and are still willing to sport 'em. I wear much, much less than a few years back - something I'm glad I changed. Too many colors out there to limit oneself to so much black. But yeah, sometimes there is such a harsh take on it as a color option these days, that I had a feeling folks might be actually challenged to put something together. I just don't want to be too much of a rules dork about it.

Thanks for your input, Vicious. Let's see how others chime in.

I'm cool with it. I have some pieces in all of the required colors, so it's just a matter of figuring out how to put them together in a nice looking outfit. I'm in, it's supposed to be a "challenge," right?

Oh hey guys, I shouldn't give too many more *personal* hints/tips, but I just realized that "olive" is a shade of green. Well at least to *me* it is. It's certainly not "grass green" but like I said, any shade/hue/tone/variation of green is cool, as far as I'm concerned. I guess I only said "any shade of green" but that's what I meant.

There are many, many other variations of green. If you're iffy on one, throw it out here if you want. We're in step #2 now:
"2.) Ideas are bounced around throughout the week, any questions are codified, and guidelines are put into place."

Alan? Alan...? OD pants? Be there, buddy. Be there!

I just assumed olive would be legal (hoped, maybe?), as it is one of my choices at the moment.

I've never understood the aversion to black that many in the 'online sartorial community' have. Most don't even own a pair of black shoes or will tell others that it's unnecessary. Yet many will swear by James Bond as being a fashion icon. Here's the shoes he wore in the last film . . . and 3 of the 4 were black.

Yeah, Mark, I'm saying "approved" - that is if I have that much authority to do so. LOL - Glad to see you are "in!"

Looking at these charts/samples/graphics from wiki, I personally think that a few of them are too blue, a few too yellow, a few too brown, but there are tons of other shades in the middle, that supposedly (according to the all-knowing unquestionable reference that wikipedia is) are shades/tones/hues/tints/variations of green:

I definitely wear less black than I used to (since I started reading Dappered, etc.), but I'm not appalled by it the way some people seem to be.
