I was wondering what the better option would be. A- buy a fitted dress shirt like a micheal kors or B- buy a regular quality dress shirt and take it to a tailor for alterations? Opinions are welcome thank you

it all depends on what your tailor charges to take in the shirt, shorten then sleeves, and possibly the tail as well. that might set you back a pretty penny if you buy a regular shirt as those things may come in looking like parachutes. If i were you id go to a few department stores and try the shirts on to find the one that comes the closest to perfect fit, or require minimal tailoring. This may take a while but I would much rather this avenue.
Also take a look at some of Joes posts on dress shirt fits to give you a running start.
Good luck

Thank you max. I'm a young skinny guy and I also work at Macy's so I have plenty of time to try stuff on. We also have a good tailor that we use for our alterations work. He's reasonable. A fitted shirt is still kinda loose but tight at the neck. I just didn't know if the cost of getting a shirt tailored was worth the cost for the fitment.

Jet, how do the alfani red line fit you, what size and length are you to begin with? +1 on the BB ESFS, those things look sweet, out of my price point but still look nice when snagged on sale.
I am a fairly thin guy myself, and have found that H&M dress shirts are an excellent investment.

i'm also on the thin side. brooks brothers have 3 fits - regular, slim & extra slim. on the costly side but i am loving the fit on the extra slim fit shirts. see if you can one up during their sales.</blockquote>
Another vote for BB extra-slim fit. Expensive but fit like they were made for me.

15 1/2 32/33 for size. The alfani red fit decent but wasn't a fan of the transparent white. I like the thicker ones like the eagle or micheal kors. But the BB is a tad out of my range since I could get a Macy's brand for 5-10 bux. Wish I had the Brooks brother kind of money but I guess that's why I'm in college tho lol. Thx for the views tho guys much appreciated

Express has IMX dress shirts (there is no chest pocket) - fitted stretch and extra slim. But I think the extra slim are only online. I like the fitted stretch, it fits very well around the waist and chest and does not bunch up - looking like a parachute. Very modern look. I recommend these shirts.
