3 Things: Harrington + Bonobos Unrequited Lust + Suede Drivers

    Three things:

    1) Can anyone recommend a harrington-style jacket ... I like the Baracuta obviously but it's a fair bit of money given the short spring/summer where I live.
    2) Suddenly I want to spend $100 on a pair of pants. I am not on a gin bender. In your experience, is Bonobos worth the money?
    3) Looking for a modestly priced suede driving moc. My searching has yielded some nice things but most all about $150+ ... any alternatives or should I stop living in a world of puppy dogs and rainbows and pony up the cash?
    4) BONUS ROUND! What's the difference between having sex and making love? Wife and I had a spirited debate about this yesterday. Maybe I should ask Beth. Have exhausted my quota of questions for the community.

Thanks for any insight or recommendations you can provide.

    4) One sounds more romantic to your wife.

I also vote yes on Bonobos!

As for your driving mocs...I'd be willing to pay more for something I'd wear frequently than something I'd not. Just the same, if it's not much more cost for something you'd really enjoy go for the one you like better. I think you'd be happier spending $150 on a pair you love than $100 on a pair you aren't crazy about and are reminded of every time you wear them.

2a) If you want cotton get Bill's Khaki's from STP, usually $145-185, now way under $100. Sign up for their mailing list and then click through it for the coupon. Pretty great prices on their M3 model which is the trim fit.

2b) If you want wool check out Hickey Freeman also at STP, usually $250 now $97.47 with the coupon.

Like most STP stuff sizes are limited.

Love Bonobos myself. Make sure, especially if it is your first purchase, you ask the Ninjas for a size recommendation for the pair you like. They give different rec's for different styles/materials and in my experience have been pretty good about it (e.g., they told me to size down two sizes for their selvege denim and one for the travel jeans).

Bonobos is 90% marketing and 10% quality. In my opinion there are much better options. Back when they had groupons and other coupons regularly they were a good deal, now not sso much.

If you want a nice pair of khakis that will look great and hold up check out Berle.

                1. Warrior Clothing

                2. Bonobos runs sales and sells their pants for like $40, what does that actually say about their markup...get something higher end for a baseline, Sierra Trading Post as pointed out has lots of good stuff, I'd look for a linen blend or something for the summer, I just ordered Linen pants from Suit Supply to see how they compare to the lands end versions.

                3. No clue

                4. ML you have to actually look at the person the majority of the time and enjoy looking at them, other...you may have a hard time looking them in the eye the next morning. Now being a guy if you wanted to get technical...they are the same thing with the same end result but that's just how most of us think.

I have the black BR jacket - it's very nice. Got it on clearance, and with an additional 40% off a little while back. The red one seems to only be offered in... well, red. Nice in person too, though.

On the drivers, I have the older version (previous years' model) of the penny-loafer version - called the Gabriel:

It's very nice! Snagged that also clearanced and with the additional 40% off - for something like $43 or something. You might have to hit some local BRs to check their clearance offerings, or else just go for it on the newer regular priced ones. I'd try to use a coupon, if one applies, though. I personally wouldn't pay full price on anything from BR; and I love BR's stuff.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions. Bonobos seems as divisive as Indochino. I should have prefaced the suede driver question by saying no strings, tassles, attached. Nonetheless, you've pointed me in the right direction.

As for question 4, I suggested to my wife that the difference between having sex and making love was the location where the male climax occurs. I am three lengths ahead in the sprint for Worst Husband of the Year.

LOL! - Well, maybe strike up a bargain: If she has sex with you today, you'll make love to her tomorrow. Win-win!

What! everyone knows indochino is sub par quality for the price, fused suits for up to $700 = bad boy.

You can't use the location arguement either...it doesn't work if you think about the adult film industry.

I'm fairly certain the missus would laugh at me if I suggested "making love." Unless, of course, I was playing air guitar and singing along to Bad Company: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UbRhH_bN1A . Then, she'd be laughing with me.

I recently latched onto the harrington style as well- I couldn't find too many options in the US (admittedly I didn't research it nearly as hard as I normally do). Here is what I found:

http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=73EH- seems nice and has good reviews but no interior pocket which maybe a deal breaker for some.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004QY1I6...151_3p_M3_dp_1 I bought this one - due to the amount of positive reviews and cost. I also ordered it from Base (supplier's name) since several reviews suggest a better quality as well as better overall satisfaction about that company. Total shipped was $58, I hope to be surprised and discover it is made in the UK rather than China or India. I took a chance and sized-up (normally a M but went with a L) up since most of the reviews made this recommendation. I like the fact this had an interior pocket and the most color options beyond the basic color (Price of Wales, Green Tonic, and dogtooth).

https://ssl-account.com/warriorcloth...1c76f2ebb79c79 This has several reviews but few describe the fit. Amazon UK has several reviews with a few more describing the fit better than the Warrior home site. The few negative reviews between Warrior home site and Amazon UK convinced me to look elsewhere. Plus, the Warrior home site pictures make their jacket appear to fit tighter around the waist than the Orvis and Relco (maybe people like that). I was concerned about some sort of "ballooning" effect that could result with the Warrior. After reading the reviews, I liked the fact that Warrior seems to have nice details to their jacket such as company name on the zipper, Union Jack button on interior and company name on exterior buttons.

A good source for Warrior in the US is through Angry Young & Poor. I've bought two jackets and lots of records from them over the years.

Warrior also makes a lot of Ben Sherman and Fred Perry type shirts that are popular with skins who think paying retail for Ben and Fred is silly. Sizes tend to run slim so you many need to size up.
