    Sport coat options

    Hi all,

I just received this J. Crew sport coat in the lighter gray:

I like it, but I'm wondering if I would prefer one of their herringbone sport coats instead (like this one, for example):

Do you guys have any strong feelings about one versus the other?

    Thanks!

I think both grays will work. I would probably choose the lighter one if I had to pick.

My only concern with both of those coats (since you asked about strong feelings!) is the thin lapel. It may not be an issue if you are a skinnier guy. I'm a 41/42 and the proportions just didn't look right to me last time I tried a similar jacket.

    My Measurements: 6' 1" height, 35" sleeves, 41-42" chest/jacket, 35" waist, 34" inseam, 11.5D/EEE shoes, 200 lbs

They look pretty similar to me - not sure why there would be any particular reason to prefer one over the other.

agree with Yacko and BenR, Lapels can pose issue depending on size bought...the other day saw a guy on the T (train) wearing a suit with slim lapels, he looked a good 6'4 around 240-250 or so, so hes no little man, it looked horrible...but his shoes were nice...he had style but you could tell he was a trendy kind-a-guy
