    layering sweaters are very thin, so it's not a problem

    Don't size up unless you plan on wearing five or six sweaters at once. If possible try the blazer on wearing the layers you think you'd pair with it (or something approximating the thickness).

    no, still go 40R. You should still be able to fit a sweater underneath that, they're not that big, and hopefully you usually already wear a shirt underneath your blazers.

    Seems like lots of people like to layer shirts and sweaters underneath blazers. I was curious as to whether people buy blazers with this in mind and therefore size up? For example, I am a 39.5 chest so would buy a 40R normally, but if I plan on layering, am I suppose to go for a 42?
