jcp St. John's Bay Rappel Work Boot on Clearance

Has anyone tried the jcp St. John's Bay Rappel Work Boot? Looks to be a good deal, but it is hard not to be skeptical at this price.

    I have:

Decided against them back then, but for $30... hmmn... Just maybe. Thanks for the heads-up!

I got a $50 JCP gift card for Christmas, so I went for the Rappel boots at $30. I honestly say, I love these boots. I went down a half size and they are very comfortable. I rubbed some Lexol leather conditioner on them and it darkened the leather to a rich deep brown color. IMO, they're very well made for the $30 price. Even at the original price of $55 they're worth it, but much better at the clearance price.

One word of caution, be wary of the tongue. I tried on 3 pairs and on two of them the tongue was either sewn on weird, or there was too much leather or something, but when I tightened the laces, the tongue bunched up abnormally. The pair I settled on, the tongue was fine, and they feel great.

Necro'ing this one, because I recently did finally snag these boots, and am wearing them today:

While posting the WIWT pic, I recalled some of our discussion on them here in the forums.

They are now down to $20 (in-store, at least) at JCP, and with the 20% off and a $10 off of $50 combo, I couldn't pass them up. In the end they cost me < $13. They don't feel like they'll last forever, but they looks VERY much like the Fryes I saw at Nordstrom Rack a couple months back.

In summary, for $12 and some change?... no-brainer.
