    Invicta Vs Orient

I'm currently debating between the Invicta 8926C and the Orient CEM65001B (the Black Mako) as my first foray into automatic dive watches. Does anyone have any experience with either of these watches? If so, is there one that you recommend over the other?

I would be interested to hear about this as well. I think I am going with the Orient, it looks less like it's trying to copy the Rolex Submariner.

Those are *exactly* my thoughts. I really, really like the look of the Invicta (or should I say the Submariner?), but it goes past "paying homage" IMO and into straight out copying. I think I would always feel like I was wearing a knockoff, not that I have the money for a Submariner.

However, many Invicta owners are very passionate about their Submariner-inspired watches, so maybe I'm reading too much into a watch as a status symbol?

i personally like the black mako. i don't know much about watches but i agree with ChrisW, the invicta looks like a submariner knockoff. heck when i typed "rolex submariner" into amazon.com that invicta popped up =P both nice looking watches for the price tho

can't comment on the invicta, but I have a blue mako, and have had no problems with it, it's my everyday go to watch

Personally I think both are good, and both are listed in Poor Man's Watch Forum's top ten watch that are around 100 USD.

But as far as I know, Orient have their own in-house movement, while Invicta does not.

I actually went with the black Mako. Great watch, sits well on my skinny wrist. It's daily go-to.

I don't think you can go wrong with either watch in that price range.

Invicta does sometimes use a rebranded Seiko movement in some of their watches (but not for this particular Sub clone). As for Orient, they do make their own movements. (Orient is owned by Seiko but still have their own movements.)

Now you should go get the 8926 too. I have both and like them both a lot. The 8926 shows up on "deal a day" sites occasionally. Keep an eye on watchdoddy.com and you may be able to pick one up for around $75.

Invicta 8926 was my first introduction to automatic watches and the experience so far has been great! I now own 5 different models: 1 japanese auto, 2 swiss auto, and 2 swiss quartz movement watches. Very nice quality with super movement and classic designs.

I just ordered an Orient Mako. Should be here shortly. I haven't seen anything bad written about them. The Invictas seem to be hit or miss quality wise (from the internet comments I found anyway)

Invicta is usually hit or miss, but the 8926 seems to be mostly hit. Its the one thing they're really good at. I'm wearing mine right now, its a nice watch.
