    Halloween Costumes 2011

Mildly off-topic for a forum about men's style, but for a group dedicated to dressing appropriately and standing out I think a Halloween costume thread would be cool.

I'll leave the replies rather flexible. If you'd like, post costumes that you used in the past to help others spark ideas. Reply with what you're thinking about wearing this year and/or ask for help if you need an idea of where to get Marty McFly's orange bubble vest or Anton Chigurh's cattle-gun.

Halloween is my favorite holiday because it allows you to know which of your friends and acquaintances has a sense of humor, which one is clever and resourceful... and which ones are lazy and/or have a unrealistically high self-image.

This should be pretty funny. All these people who know how to dress so well. What will they do for the one day where they aren't supposed to dress as themselves?

My suggestion is dress as James Bond. You meet the requirement of a costume and you look like the best dressed man in the room if you pull it off.

Best of luck and I can't wait to see/read all the costumes.

Ha, I was just thinking about starting a thread like this. I was thinking about going as Ferris Bueller on one of the days, but I have no idea where to find that incredible sweater vest. As for past costumes, I tend to pick ones that involve mustaches because I can't grow one, but I love them. My recent choices have been the Soup Nazi (Seinfeld), Rob Ross (Joy of Painting), Empire Carpet Man (Chicago Commercial Legend) and Ramathorn from Super Troopers with a group of my buddies.

I'm also looking for another mustache related costume for this year. I was thinking of Ron Burgundy, but I'm not sure.

@Thekillabeejc Those are great ideas! I look forward to this year's. Ferris might be tough since he is probably less defined by his clothes, but I bet you could pull it off if you get the vest. Good luck and post pics if you can.

I think I want to go as an airplane pilot this year.

I might just put together all the red, white and blue I can and be Proud to Be an American.

My name is already Daniel and I share some likeness so I'll probably go as Daniel Larusso

James Bond is way overdone. If you want to basically just dress up in all of your nice clothes (cop-out), buy a white wig and dress as Karl Lagerfeld.

I have a group of 3 friends that I dress up with every year. Last year we were the ghostbusters, complete with proton packs (guns were supersoakers) and the year before we were a barbershop quartet.

I'm coming up blank on what to go as... or if I dress up at all. I might cop out and just wear my Jiu-Jitsu gi

2 years ago a group of 4 friends (including myself) decided to dress up as African American rappers. Tupac, Lil Jon, Ludacris, 50 cent. So of course we purchased the necessary items including brown body paint, bald caps to cover our real hair (tupac, 50 cent). Lil jon we used a mop head, dyed it black at a local laundry mat and used it as dreads. ludacris we got a big fro with a hair pick and a long T that read "Move bitch get out the way". That was a fun night, our costumes were so legit that people thought we were really of that color decent. It was a great laugh and fun memories.

I've got Phantom of the Opera on my list, but still scouring the thrift stores for a dinner jacket, or at least a tux. Saw one earlier this year but didn't think to pick it up.

I've got enough tweed to pull of Sherlock Holmes. Just need the hat, pipe, and super duper large magnifying glass.

Tat, that is one of the most racist ideas for a Halloween costume I've ever heard.

as long as Tat isnt racist, i dont really see much harm in the costume, hell black people do it too Chapelle killed it...and some of my friends in college dressed up as white guys and it was cool, no one sweats it especially if the dudes doing it are cool people.
