    underwear

Gents, let's chat about underwear. I was reading one of Joe's posts (I don't recall if it was recent or an older one) where one of his lessons learned was to spend on good underwear. I'm certainly guilty of not wanting to spend much on underwear. I prefer boxer/briefs and despite what every package says, they always run up the leg. I'm also a runner which is when I can really tell when a pair of underwear is crappy (no pun intended). So what recommendations do you have for underwear that won't rise up the leg and breathes?

I'm *REALLY* digging these from Fruit o' the Loom:

In the gym every day, plus plenty of activity most days even just walking a couple miles from my car to the office (it's a parking NIGHTMARE sometimes) and they don't ride up. The polyester is WAY nicer than 100% cotton for sweating too, really wicks away nicely.

Thanks for the recommendation. How wide is the band? For whatever reason I find wide bands really uncomfortable by the end of the day.

ah, then in that case i recommend you find another lol. it's probably 1.5" if not a little larger. i prefer them though because i'm old and keep plenty of whiskey stored around the navel.

I have a drawer full of Uniqlo Airism mesh. They are great for the heat here in Texas. The band is not wide at all

I have recently found Saxx mesh. I am going to start switching everything out to these. The “pouch” keeps your boys from sticking to your thighs. I was skeptical at first, but it really is a game changer. The band isn’t wide, but they are not cheap. You can get 2 for $40 on Amazon.

I have a little bit of a beer belly myself and I find after sitting for a bit that a wide, stiff band gets really uncomfortable.

Thanks. The description of the Saxx says you are supposed to hand wash them. Do you actually hand wash your pairs?

I am a fan of pair of thieves boxer briefs. I have always had the same problem of them riding up. My solution was to size up and that fixed most of the problems of riding up . I am looking into others just because heat is a problem in the desert.

I washed them in the washer and dryer 2-3 times so far with no issue

What guys, no whitey tightey fans?! If anyone asks me what color underwear I'm wearing, I always say white with a brown stripe. Luckily nobody asks me that ever.

I was pretty much exclusively a cotton boxer brief guy. Go to TJ Maxx etc. and find a three pack that fits (thanks Mr. Calvin Klein), and there ya go.

I used to jokingly tease my wife about how much the Lululemon workout gear she bought cost. I mean what's wrong with the 20 year old T Shirt, that's what I do? Anyway, one year for Valentines day, I received a pair of Lululemon mesh boxer/briefs. And it turns out, they're pretty phenomenal. If you can stomach $30-$40 per pair.

Due to the price though, I do still have some cotton boxer/briefs in the rotation. I find them to be just as comfortable on non-workout days.

I was in the inexpensive underwear camp for most of my life, too. Then I splurged and discovered what a difference it makes. I currently wear Mack Weldon almost exclusively. Every now and then I see a more affordable brand that seems like it would just as good so I'll give them a try but I always end up coming back to MW.

Duluth Trading "Buck Naked" boxer briefs with the "Bullpen". I'm a lifter, I have 26" thighs and riding up has always been an issue. These don't ride up. The "bullpen" keeps things from sticking to my legs. They are great. They could breath a little better, but they wick moisture well. Add a little Gold Bond for extra comfort when it's hot out.

I hike so this was a year long endeavor for me a while back. I ended up getting exofficio for hiking and liked them so much I slowly converted my entire rotation. I liked the 32 Degree boxer briefs too, but they did ride up my legs a little.
