Yeah, wear the dark rinse jeans until they look like the medium wash. Seriously, I have one lighter wash pair of jeans and they are of a dirty medium wash, not so intensely distressed, and they work for very casual outfits/lounging around... if you have one pair you really don't need any more. If you have none and want a pair, go for it because they're cheap and pre-distressed jeans aren't worth spending $$$$ over.
Yea, the distressing on those is pretty severe. Either follow LosRocket's suggestion above, or look into other brands that have medium wash jeans that aren't as distressed.
Levis come in a wide variety of washes. You could try something like these: http://www.amazon.com/Levis-Mens-Straight-Denim-Jeans/dp/B0018OQ93Y
They aren't as severely distressed, though they have some whiskering. Not sure if they are light enough for you, but indigo will fade in the wash, of course.
Or a suggestion if you want some lighter colored jeans - go gray. I'm planning to - and I think they're going to look great with pretty much everything I have (which is lots and lots of blue).
