    What's More Classic...a challenge

So I am sitting her during a very slow day at work. I am trying to keep my mind off the election so I thought a little distraction is in order. So my challenge is to pick the more classic in each pair. Feel free to share your thoughts.

    1. Black or Brown

    2. Tie or Bowtie

    3. Metal or Leather watch band

    4. Wingtip or Cap Toe

    5. French cuff or button cuff.

    Let the games begin.

    1. I think Black is more classic as it has been the color of formal year for a very long time.

    2. I really am not sure. I am leaning that the bowtie is more classic

    3. Leather since it was more widely available during the early rise of wristwatch popularity

    4. I am really not sure

      5. French cuff

      Source: British tradition.

Agree on all, except I would argue tie over bowtie in all circumstances except black-tie affairs. And in my opinion, cap toe wins out as the wingtip originated as a feature on casual/country shoes

If by classic we are meaning more formal, then my votes would be:

          1. Black

          2. Bow tie

          3. Leather watch band

          4. Cap-toe (if only for the lack of broguing)

          5. French cuff

by classic, do you mean formal or classic as in age?

if classic as in age, question is loaded, if going of british tradition, brown, neither (but bow-tie would win in a more affluent circle buring the victorian age, metal as back in the day watches were linked to chains, wingtip based on use back then, wings wer functional as the broguing was actaully used to allow water to exit the shoe in the swampy waters in the england, worn by country folk as opposed to city dwellers, and button cuff cuz they could be worn by both rich or lower castes...

The question is loaded really becasue history only looks at formal fashion of the affluent masses IMO, take a look into functionality, fit and your question gets blown up in many directions.

but if by classic you mean formal, the simplest answer is

                black

                bow

metal: chain watch is as classic as it can get

                cap sans brogue

                toss up

                  3. Leather

                  4. Cap toe

                  5. French cuff
