i'm with alan. i poked my head in there (the website, not the store) a few times when i heard there was a sale going on. is it obvious that it's polo-for-kids (with money)? yeah, sure. and yeah, i was turned off by the ludicrous branding and uh, "alt trad" aesthetic the website pointed out. but!! they had quite a few things kicking around the website that were completely usable. without the branding, they're basically just selling preppy clothing. if you could find a piece without a logo on sale, the price seemed fairly reasonable, given their clothing tended to run pretty slim.

I like the idea of that sweater, but the colors are too severe for me.

A lot of their stuff is ruined by massive logos and other over-the-top trimming, but a few of the more sedate items have potential. And yes, it's way over priced for the target audience. "Trust fund babies" is just too small of a niche to keep a company in business.

Sad. Another example of great idea, poor execution.

They definitely went abercrombie over the last year. It was sad to see, but they've kept some stuff logo free. I don't know if they'll do a fire sale like Clad, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Their sweaters are nice, but you might have to size up. It happened with one of their

rugby shirts from last year (with no logo). I'm a small in most brands but I had to get a medium for that.

    Ha, sorry my man.

I don't think it is that bad but a lot of their clothes are indeed ridiculous. I think actually it used to be way better but gradually over time it got more and more exaggerated and comical (read: gross). Polo, to some degree is suffering from it as well, ever since they introduced all the huge, garish logos.

Sigtweed Corduroy, darn it, you posted about this before me. You whippersnappers with your Twitters and Tumblrs and MySpaces.

    I'm rooting for a Clad-style discount sale.

Edit: I just checked out Rugby's site. These clothes are absurd.

I wonder if they'll do an online liquidation or just liquidate at the stores...

@bremersm yeah Four Pins is a daily read for me. Hilarious and entertaining.

It does have a bit of the Abercrombie flavor, but I don't completely hate it. Scattered throughout, there are a number of interesting items. They're all very expensive, though.

Hilarious commentary from the always awesome Four Pins:

"I don't know enough about the business side of things to say that I saw this coming, but when your brand is basically the bad Australian gay porn version of American Eagle (LOL American SMH Eagle), does the viability of your economic model even matter?"
