Looking to add blazer to wardrobe...

@somaticmarker1 thanks for that, I'm not sure how I missed that one! I will probably be picking that one up on the next 40% sale!
EDIT: I should also note that the main reason I'm discussing cotton in the fall is the look. I realize tweed works well in the fall with jeans, but I still think most cotton blazers look better personally.

The H&M one looks wayyyyyyyyyy too short. I am not even a traditionalist on the subject, and I still think its obscenely short.

Has anyone tried on the tweed blazer from H&M? I feel like the price is probably right, but looking at the pictures, it looks like it doesn't have any vents which seems strange.
I am also trying to add some blazers to my wardrobe, and just purged a bunch of ill fitting clothing, including some blazers. I have been scouring JCrew, Banana Republic, Lands End trying to pick just 3 good basic blazers that I could wear with jeans or Chinos, or Twill pants (love the Mossimo Twill pants from Target). I am thinking:
Tweed/ Gray:

or if I was going to splurge

Navy:

I also really like the Houndstooth in the post above from Banana Republic.

This one from BR can go as low as $120 during 40% off sales. It might be too pricy for you but is a good example of a cotton blazer that is fine for the fall

@ diversification: I think when most makers design a cotton blazer, they're expecting it to be used in spring, and that prompts them to use color since they've just gone through two seasons of grey. Just a theory.

I'd love to find a grey cotton blazer with some visual depth. Something like that H&M offering but not synthetic. I don't understand why that's such a difficult piece to find but I've been looking forever without any luck.

@tenrapid completely out of season right now. Also, I don't really consider seersucker very versatile. Probably hard to pull off for most guys.

Wow, guys, thanks for the awesome response. Great community here. I'm really into the H&M Tweed Blazer. Good price point for sure, but what do you guys know about the quality and fit of H&M?

Brown or grey tweed would be a good option -- you're in college, and that fits with an academic look. See the Uniqlo post on this page for an option.

You absolutely can't go wrong with medium or medium-dark grey as your second blazer color, and it probably is the safest, most sensible option, but I'd suggest brown is more of an option than most might think (particularly if you already own a grey suit).
Brown's not extremely versatile as a suit color, but it's more versatile and generally better looking as a blazer color and will subtly stand out without standing out in the way a fuschia blazer would. And, like grey, it's also a good cold weather color. If you did go the brown route, I'd suggest steering clear of the extremes, like khaki and chocolate brown, and picking something more medium-hued and versatile.

Some people care about synthetics. Some people don't. For those that do, all the above examples are at least 50% synthetic.

For the sake of versatility, the next one should be heather grey. Since we're moving into colder weather, you may want to consider something with a bit of heft, too. I'll look for some examples...

Looking to add blazer to wardrobe...
I'm a (broke) sophomore in college going through the rush process. After wearing my blue banana republic blazer every night for the past week, it dawned on me that I needed something to mix it up a little bit.
Any suggestions for blazers in the $100 range, and preferably not navy? I prefer a slimmer fit and wouldn't mind standing out a little bit.
thanks.
