wool brown houndstooth tie - what to pair it with?

I like that tie. I'd go with a white or light blue shirt. I would avoid patterns with this, because it looks like it has enough pattern to go around.

What kind of shirt - color/ pattern would look good with tie. I assume a navy blue suit (which I have) would look good with this tie.
