AE Daltons with Rubber Sole?

    AE Daltons with Rubber Sole?



    Hey Guys,


    I'm looking for a boot that looks as good as the Dalton but has a rubber sole for the winter/rain (Oregon, rains but not much snow). I haven't been able to find one yet and am thinking of just getting the Dalton and having my local shoe place put on a thin rubber "layer" under the leather sole so it doesn't soak up water.


    Any suggestions?

        Thanks guys. I'll probably just start saving up and get the Daltons, I haven't found anything that comes close to them. Then will just have my cobbler put a thin rubber sole underneath.

          Also take a look at the Sebago Hamilton. I have a pair and while they're not as nice as the Daltons, the leather is treated to be waterproof and there's a thin rubber sole.

            If you're not in a hurry, you can see if you can find a pair of AE North Plattes or see if they'll perhaps bring them back. They're pretty much the Dalton with a rubber sole and the top 3 eyelets are replaced with quick release points. I believe they were a limited run, previously, for only the months of November and December. I remember seeing them sold on eBay for a discount towards the beginning of this year, lots of listings pegged them as custom Daltons.

              When you say "looks as good as", are you looking specifically for a wingtip dress boot?

              It's a different boot than the Dalton - a bit more rugged, etc, but looks right at place at work with chinos or with jeans. Since the leather is thicker than the Daltons (going by memory, don't own those), they won't work as well under thinner dress pants, if that is a requirement.


              Overall, great boots though.
