    Quality of Banana Republic shoes?

Can anyone attest to the quality of banana republic shoes? I like the look of their Olsen wingtip, but have never purchased shoes from them before. Just wondering if anyone has any experiences they can share.

I don't know about the olsen's but Joe does have a review of the BR Jaret blue suede shoes here:

In my experience, and what I perceive to be the general consensus of people here, is the BR suede/nubuck shoes are pretty good, but the leather ones are lacking. I bought a pair, but immediately returned them as the leather looked cheap and shiny.

If you are in the market for a pair of cap toe medallions and want to stay in the $150 range. I would suggest the Mike Kronos from dsw.

Joe also has done two post for decent dress shoes at lower prices.

      Sub $100

Of course Allen Edmonds is doing a sale starting Monday and you will likely be able to get the strands for $250 ish

Another good option of cap toe medallions is from Calibrate (Nordstrom in house brand)

Thanks for the tips and recommendations guys. I'll probably stay away from the BR shoes at this point, plus I like some of the ones that were recommended.

From what I've heard around the net is that the BR shoes at their Outlet are different versus the traditional store. Which I hope is true. My local outlet has awful shoes! The leather mocs I picked up literally looked like they were about to fall apart. The canvas shoes looked as cheap and flimsy as a pair at H&M I looked at. But I've only heard good things about the shoes bought online or at an actual full retail store. I have no idea why the outlet ones are so crappy, when I thought the outlet stuff came directly from the traditional stores once a season was over or after it hasn't sold.

I bought the same shoes Joe recommended, they are holding up fantastic! I wear them 4 times a week for the past 5 months. A great deal at $88. The only problem I have now is the laces fraying a bit, but that is it.

Travis - I don't think that's accurate. Maybe in the past, but I think for the most part, outlets get first run clothing that's typically made of cheaper materials.
