Id say they are slim but not skinny. Theres a significant taper. I have somewhat athletic thighs, and these have sufficient rise and thigh room yet they taper to a modern ankle with no slop.
The fabric is nice for the price point. The brown is a nice rich Choc color and the tan is a bright British tan.
Im pleased; will come back for more colors. That Burgundy color looks intriguing.
One thing that was weird though... The grey color I ordered in the same order, same size, but it was too baggy. It didn't fit the same way. I will return.

The fit of the shirt looks good, but I'm not a fan of wearing dress shirts without a tie or a jacket. I prefer a button down collar when just wearing a shirt. If that's not an option, you can tame the collar with metal collar stays and magnets. All in one: https://www.amazon.com/Executive-Wur.../dp/B001IVY2I6 Just as good cheap option: cheap steal stay on ebay and cheap magnets from Home Depot.

Slightly monochromatic in certain lights. Cardigan is charcoal, shirt is a light blue while the pants are navy.

Trying out blackwatch plaid with brown leather and pants; not sure how well it worked so feedback is welcome.
Side note: not really impressed with J Crew's mainline flannels, despite their high cost. Not especially soft, buttons aren't sewn well, and fit is weirdly large.Duncan

Yeah, I've tried that same flannel a couple times (multiple seasons) to see if the fabric or fit improved. As an admitted J. Crew fan, I was disappointed and returned it twice. I found their black watch vintage oxford (slim) more to my liking. It has a soft brushed feel that is almost flannel-like and the fit is as I expect. I feel it goes best with dark denim.
