Yet another jacket picked up for cheap on eBay. This one was a bit more expensive than my others (all somewhere between $40-60) but it's one of the J Crew Harris Tweed Birdseye jackets. I love donegal.

No, I want to have earned any elbow patches I might someday wear. When I got my job (as a professor) a family member gave me a tweed jacket with elbow patches. I always felt like a poseur so I sold it. And got this one, patch-free.

How does one earn elbow patches? By wearing out the elbows on the jacket, or is there some sort of milestone you have to reach?

Your guess is as good as mine. I've never heard of it either. The tag says PBM Crafted in Philadelphia" and below that, it says "Crowley's in Michigan." On the other side is the standard Harris Tweed tag. Who knows what's what, but for $40 shipped, it works for me!

Probably manufactured for an independent menswear store by PBM (whoever that is) of Harris Tweed material.
