I think with the blazer it needs the tie, but without and unbuttoned down a bit works fine too. I like the color combos.

@Jake -- I'd say without tie looks better, even with the blazer on. Is it black gingham with a camel sweater?

@jake I think you made the right decision to axe the tie

I thrifted this awesome brand new jack spade wool tie for $5 but i rarely wear ties, and never such a casual one made of wool: http://i.imgur.com/ZeDhf.jpg

I was too excited about the find, and so i had to wear it immediately tried this: http://i.imgur.com/P1reu.png

I'm a bit unkept, didn't adjust myself before gf took a random picture not sure what else works with this tie; I'd love some suggestions.

            besides the tie-
            j crew button down
            tommy hilfiger marled cardigan
            uniqlo quilted vest
            dockers alpha khakis
            cole haan wingtip chukkas
and a ben sherman red plaid fishermans bag

@BB - Yeah, Marlboro, like the cigarettes, but as far as I know there is no association between the two, however their look is kinda like the Marlboro Man, rugged, western inspired pieces, jeans, checkered shirts and leather pieces. They have quite a good reputation here in Europe, virtually non existent in the States as far as I know.

@Jake101 - Love every piece except the tie, good decision ditching it!

This was me for last day of the semester today:

              Topman lambswool cardigan
              Topman burgundy chinos
              Thomas Pink shirt
              Mexx belt
              Beaten old Chelsea boots
My favorite briefcase I found in my parents basement

And a bonus, What I Wore This Summer (WIWTS ), man I miss Monaco!

@ fey - This is the look I like! Well done, looks great! I think this tie would work with EVERYTHING! Depends on how casual you are usually, it would not really work in a boardroom (well maybe at some tech startup ).

@hormsup - I think officially its navy from jcp but it llooks black

thanks matt, funny thing is i was hoping to find a leather briefcase similar to yours when i found the tie. always have to keep an open mind when thrifting though!

@Jake, I really don't mind it with the tie. Without looks good too, actually. Obviously you went with your gut reaction which is usually the right move.

This is today's commuting outfit. I know hats can be polarizing, but this one has always treated me well, dressed up or down.

Nice Jake101! That Thompson looks like it fits perfectly and I like the tie and socks a lot. This is a good example of an outfit that's sedate but still very sharp.
