    Timex Weekender Straps

I have a Timex Weekender and would like to get a few more straps to wear with it. The strap that came with it measures about 9.75 inches long. When I wear it there is a little extra hanging out, but it's not excessive. All of the replacement straps I've found seem to be about 10.75-11 inches long and when I put them on there is a lot of extra hanging out and it looks ridiculous. Does anyone know where I can find replacement straps that are closer to the length of the original strap?

I found some on the target website but the selection was pretty bad.

I've also been looking through the dappered threads archives and found a lot of places to get NATO straps, but all of them are either too long or it doesn't specifically say how long they are. I've checked places like the knottery, ebay, crown and buckle and all of the links below without any luck.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Also, would there be any way to modify a longer strap?

Nylon straps are meant to be a bit too long. The extra length is meant to be folded and passed back through the metal holders to give additional security - even if the buckle fails, the extra folds should help keep the watch attached to your wrist.

If you prefer not to do that, you can cut the strap to your desired length (use a quarter to help get a nice rounded edge), then seal the cut edge with a match or lighter so it doesn't fray and unravel.

They are meant to be be folded back through the metal keepers but that's not going to help secure them anymore than if you don't fold in the end. A NATO or Zulu strap is designed to stay on even of 1 spring bar breaks or fals.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try folding it back through. It seems kind of obvious now that you said it, I feel a little embarrassed

Don't feel too bad about it... obviously none of the J.Crew models got the memo, either.

My problem is ones that aren't long enough, and when I fold them back through the metal, they come out later in the day.

@ Rodney - Are you folding the strap over one metal keeper and under the second? If so, you might find it a little more secure to push the end of the strap under both metal keepers. If the problem persists, you might think about cutting off the extra strap in the manner I described above.
