Looking for a casual non-denim pants option

Gents, the topic title pretty much sums it up. I want something casual, but non-denim. I've got plenty of pairs of denim and want stuff that isn't denim. I would also be in favor of getting stuff in some colors, but a pair in khaki, navy and some form of grey are probably wise choices as well. Also, bonus points for stuff that's not exceptionally heavy since I'm in Florida.

I tried on some J. Crew stuff in their urban slim fit and I loved them, but I didn't want to spend $60+ on pants even factoring in my student discount.

Basically I want these, but I don't want to drop the coin.

Get the factory version. I got the factory version in the non slim fit for around $30 or $35 I think.

I recently loaded up on a bunch of chinos at LEC (thank you $3.50 sale!)

What I'm struggling with - what casual shoes do you guys usually wear with chinos? My taupe clark DB's don't look very good with them, and my Allen Edmonds all look too formal for them.

My guess is that most will say something like boat shoes, but I hate boat shoes.

@ zerostyle - I wear brown wingtips with chinos all the time. Suede bucks, white canvas sneakers, casual boots. Maybe taupe DBs don't work, but I would think something like the beeswax leather Clarks would look great with most chinos. I like to wear my Chippewa workboots, which have a nice low profile shape to them. Really, you can wear just about any shoe with chinos that's not formal (black cap toe) or ultra casual (flip flops).

BenR -- what are those (i think faded blue) casual sneakers? I'm a fan of the color and leather laces. They look similar to these from JCrew but not the same: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/s...7554/17554.jsp

@ hornsup - The grey sneakers are some Polo Ralph Laurens I thrifted a while back. I added the leather laces myself. They are an older model of these (with, fortunately, a smaller logo): http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12413204

Blast, was hoping for something cheaper than $60 / no logo, etc. Nice find for you though. I like the idea of the Tretorns this year, but I'm not sure I'm going to really feel the same way in 10 mos and I think I'd prefer something faded blue/gray and no logos, etc.
