Seiko 5 w/ canvas strap? step up from Weekender?

CamelCamelCamel just alerted me to a price drop on the Seiko 5 with canvas strap. $65 on Amazon or $57 through a third party. I already bought the weekender way back for $26 but its damn loud. I have a metal bracelet Seiko 5. Anyone have this one? Thoughts?

The Seiko 5 gets great reviews, and being an automatic is definitely a step up. Style is a little more military, so as long as you like that, go for it.


Best way to dress it up/make it different is to get a couple of NATO straps. Sky's the limit.

I have the Seiko 5 SNK809. It's a great piece and well known in the Seiko community, but among my collection of 42mm+ Seiko diver's, I now find it to be a tad small at 37mm. It's in great shape as I've barely worn it, so I'd be willing to let it go if you're interested.
