    J.Crew Factory Holborn yes/no?

I'm debating whether to buy the holborn trench. I'm on the small side so a double breasted trench would kind of swallow me. This holborn seems to be cut a little shorter and tighter. I have some questions though.

    Here is the original holborn

How much difference is there in these two coats? It's 100% cotton (both are) but one is described as having a coating. The factory trench doesn't say whether it is coated or not. How big of a quality difference is there between J.crew and J.crew factory?

    I really like the price..

I like it, although there is a trench at BR factory that I should have picked up and probably will.

There probably IS a difference, although it would be hard to tell without seeing them in person. My guess is that the first, high quality run went to J Crew proper, and a second later run with cost-saving changes (maybe in the lining, coating, etc) went to Factory.

I'm headed to the factory stores Friday. Jcrew factory and BR factory. I'll have to check them out.

When you say that you like it, do you mean that you own it?

That figures. I'm just hoping the factory version is at least a little bit waterproof and warm enough for fall..

There will be a difference between the two. The Factory line is made FOR J. Crew Factory. Usually, the Factory items are made to imitate the retail items but are made from different materials or made in a different fashion that tries to cut costs more than quality. How significant the difference is between the two, I don't know.

Having tried both J. Crew mainline and J. Crew Factory items, I would have to say I will likely stick with the mainline. The Factory items can provide good value from a price perspective, but I have rarely seen Factory items provide the same durability and "stand-up-ed-ness" to the wear and tear of life that better-made items have.

So, when the chips are down, with this budget bracket would you guys buy this factory holborn?

Or if banana republic had a trench in this price range, which brand would you go with?

I just bout it. Couldn't argue $88 with free shipping. Will post my thoughts once it arrives.

                Hey, any updates?

If it falls below 80, I may buy it. I bought the Gap trench with chambray lining. It's very nice and I caught it for ~80$ but I left the tag on.. It'll be my first trench if I keep it. I like it but I don't know how a trench should feel.
