    Jacket $80. Tailoring $80

Got a suit jacket at Uniqlo nice and cheap. Cost doubled with tailoring. Sigh. But it fits and looks good.

$80 of tailoring can often make a jacket look several times what it was worth. Don't hesitate to do it. I've spent 3x the cost of s jacket on tailoring, but it looks damn good. Don't get caught up in the price of tailoring.

Same thing happened to me with a blazer from H&M. Frustrating, but worth it most of the time.

We should buy more expensive suits so then the tailoring would be a smaller proportion LOL

No! I spent 14x on my blazer tailoring than what I paid for it. (paid $5, spent $70)

You have to look at the total cost. This also underscores the value of paying more at the store to get something that fits without tailoring or just minimal tailoring. Buying a suit for a well-fitting jacket that comes with pants in need of expensive alterations can wind up being a mixed bag versus separates or MTM/bespoke.
